His nose is nevertheless noteworthy. He is especially skilled<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> in coursings and race tracks, yielding good results particularly in<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> longer distances. He is a very good companion and a loyal watch<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> dog.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">FCI-CLASSIFICATION:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Group 10 Sighthounds.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Section 3 Short-haired Sighthounds<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Without working trial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">The Magyar Agar is an\u00a0original hunting breed. His origin goes back to the times when the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Magyars conquered the country. This is proved by archeological<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> findings of skull bones. To increase the dog\u2019s speed the breed was<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> crossed with different sighthound breeds in the 19th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">GENERAL APPEARANCE:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Gives the impression of strength;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> bone structure and musculature very strongly developed. Elegant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 The length of the body sligthly exceeds the height at the withers.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 The length of the muzzle is approximately half of the length of<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> the head.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">BEHAVIOUR\/TEMPERAMENT :<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Untiring, full of stamina, fast,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> tough and robust. Excellent on the race-course; he is on some<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> distances faster than the Greyhound.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Somewhat reserved by nature, but not shy, sensible, intelligent and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> faithful. He is watchful; his instinct to protect people and their<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> houses and property is developed, yet he is not aggressive or vicious.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">HEAD:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Wedge shaped with a rather broad base, seen from above<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> and in profile.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> CRANIAL REGION<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Skull: Moderately strong, broad; the forehead fairly wide.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Stop: Pronounced.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> FACIAL REGION<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Nose: Relatively large, well pigmented; with large, wide open<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> nostrils.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Muzzle: Strong, elongated, not too pointed.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Lips: Close-fitting, tight, well pigmented.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Jaws\/Teeth: Jaws powerful, strong; well developed, strong and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> complete scissor bite, according to the dentition formula.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Cheeks: Strong, muscular.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Eyes: Of medium size, dark. Neither deep-set nor protruding. The<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> expression is keen and intelligent.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Ears: Rather large; their texture is distinctly thick; set on at medium<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> height, well carried rose ears clinging to the neck. When the dog is<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> alert, they are raised up. The heavier ears are more desirable than the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> light ears. Permanently pricked ears are faulty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">NECK:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Medium long, yet elegant, dry, muscular. Without folds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">BODY:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Withers: Well developed, muscular, long.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Back: Broad, straight, firm, very well muscled.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Loin: Very broad, straight, strongly muscled.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Croup: Broad, slightly sloping, strongly muscled.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Chest: Brisket deep and distinctly rounded for providing adequate<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> room for the heart and the big lungs. Ribs well arched, extending far<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> back.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Belly: Moderately tucked up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">TAIL:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Strong, thick, set on at medium height, tapering only<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> moderately, slightly bent, reaching to the hocks. The underside is<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> covered with wiry hair. In repose carried hanging down; in action it<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> may be raised up to the level of the topline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">LIMBS:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> FOREQUARTERS:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> General appearance : Forelegs strong and sinewy; seen from the front<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> and the side, they are straight and parallel.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Shoulders: Shoulder blade moderately oblique, mobile, muscular,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> long.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Upper arm: Long, slightly slanting, muscular.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Elbows: Fitting flexibly to the chest, mobile, neither turned in nor<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> out.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Forearm: Long, straight, of strong bone structure and with lean<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> muscles.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Pastern joint: Broad and strong.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Pastern: Short and vertical.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Forefeet: Relatively big, elongated; strong pads; strong nails kept<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> short.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">HINDQUARTERS:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> General appearance : Hind legs well angulated, though not<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> excessively so; strongly muscled, with plenty of bone. Seen from<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> behind, standing parallel.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Upper thigh: Powerfully muscled, with muscles rather longish in<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> shape.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Stifle : Moderately angulated, strong, neither turned in nor out.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Lower thigh: Long, with lean muscles.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Hock joint: Strong, well let down.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Metatarsus: Viewed from behind parallel, when standing and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> moving.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Hind feet: Relatively large, slightly elongated, with strong pads and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> nails.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">GAIT\/MOVEMENT:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Ground covering, elastic trot; viewed from<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> front and behind the limbs move in parallel planes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">SKIN:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">Relatively thick, fitting well all over, without folds or dewlap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">COAT<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">HAIR: Short, dense, coarse, smooth. In winter time a considerable<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> amount of dense undercoat may develop.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> COLOUR: All colours and combinations known in sighthounds are<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> admitted, except the colours or colour-combinations mentioned as<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u201cEliminating faults\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">SIZE:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Ideal height at withers for dogs: 65 to 70 cm.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> Ideal height at withers for bitches : 62 to 67 cm.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> The size measured in centimetres at the withers is less important than<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> the overall balance of the dog.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">FAULTS: Any departure from the foregoing points should be<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> upon the health and welfare of the dog.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\">DISQUALIFYING FAULTS:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Aggressive or overly shy.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Any dog clearly showing physical or behavioural<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> abnormalities shall be disqualified.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Atypical head.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Undershot or overshot mouth, wry mouth.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 One or more missing incisors or canines or premolars 2-4 or<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> molars 1-2. More than two PM1 missing. The M3 are<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> disregarded.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Entropion, Ectropion.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Colours: blue, blue-white, brown, wolf-grey, black and tan;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> tricolour.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> N.B.:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Male animals should have two apparently normal<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> testicles fully descended into the scrotum.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> \u2022 Only functionally and clinically healthy dogs, with breed<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 12pt;\"> typical conformation should be used for breeding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ORIGIN: Hungary.
